Timber Lake Torpedoes

Group: Timing (TRAINING REQUIRED)

• Timer – (TRAINING WILL OCCUR DURING PRACTICE MEET 5/28) Accurately takes and records the elapsed time of the swimmer. Start watch at the signal and stop when any part of the swimmer touches the wall at the end of the race.  When the starter starts the race, start your watch. As the swimmer approaches the end of the race, stand up and lean over the edge of the pool to see the touch. Do not touch a swimmer during a race. If your watch does not start or malfunctions during the race, raise your hand and call for a back-up timer. There are two timers assigned to each lane – one from each team. An average of each timer's time will be taken to get the swimmers final race time.  Each team also has a Back-up Timer person assigned to assist in case a timer misses a start.
• Runner  – Takes the time sheets from the timers and brings them to the computer person.
• Volunteer at Large- Back up/fill in for any last minute positions that become open.  You will be "on call" for whatever is needed during your half of the meet.  Positions to fill in include: timer, concessions, bullpen, staging, or ribbons.

Group: Bullpen/Staging

• Bullpen – (6 & Under, 7-8, 9-10) Organizes and lines up swimmers in the team area for their events and sends them to staging.
• Staging – Receives swimmers from the bullpen and then organizes and lines them up behind the blocks in their correct lanes.

Group: Set-up/Clean-up

• Check – in – Required for all meets. Two people arrive 20 minutes before swimmers and check them in, and verify all events are written on their arms with Sharpie.
• Set up/Clean up coordinator(s) FOR HOME MEETS ONLY- Responsible for mapping out set up/clean up for home meet, communicating with volunteers.
• Set-up – FOR HOME MEETS ONLY. Reports to pool 2 hours prior to meet. Sets up pool area: bullpen, signage, staging, concessions. 
• Clean-Up –FOR HOME MEETS ONLY. After the meet ends, picks up trash, puts chairs back in order, and helps break down concessions.
• Parking Coordinator- FOR HOME MEETS ONLY. Coordinate parking plan for home meets, set up No Parking Signs, work with volunteers at home meets.
• Parking- FOR HOME MEETS ONLY. Assist spectators with parking golf carts and cars in appropriate parking locations on neighborhood streets.

Group: Ribbons

• Ribbons – For each event, places printed labels on appropriate ribbons and files into the team file box.

Group: Concessions 

• Concessions – FOR HOME MEETS ONLY, our team organizes and staffs the concession stand. We will be asking for drink and snack donations based on last name and monetary donations as well.

Group: Stroke & Turn 

• Stroke/Turn Judge – Officials positioned at the side of the pool who walk the length of the course as the swimmers race. If the stroke judge sees something illegal, he/she reports it to the starter, and the swimmer may be disqualified. TRAINING REQUIRED.

Group: Fun Friday Celebration

• Help set up and clean up Fun Friday Celebration the Friday after the meet, and provides juice and munchkin doughnut holes for the celebration.  Fun Fridays are from 9-10 AM.
